Glossary
Understanding technical lingo can be difficult, especially
with variable data printing. FLAAR has developed this
glossary to assists in the understanding of variable
data lingo.
Terms and Phrases

Lifetime
Value- FLAAR's definition of lifetime
value refers to the lifetime value of the customer.
In this regard, it is the value of the customer
over
the duration or
length of time they conduct business with you.
On-Demand
Printing- The concept of printing that allows
for the production of archived or stored files that
are printed immediately when the customer needs them.
Response
Rate- The
percentage of people that respond to a particular
marketing campaign. RIP- Raster
Image Processor. Allows for the transfer of the image
to a printer or an imagesetter.
Static
Communication- Refers to generic or
un-targeted printed media that does not change
or have variation in content during production.
Variable
Data Printing- The
concept of printing that allows for the production
of varied or changing elements in a design
on the same press run.
Workflow- The
procedures and steps and organization follows
when completing a project, such as one that
incorporates variable data printing
